BTS Nominasi BRIT Awards Kategori International Group of the Year

British Phonographic Industry (BPI) secara resmi telah mengumumkan nama-nama yang masuk ke dalam nominasi BRIT Awards 2022. BTS menjadi salah satu di antaranya. Mengutip Soompi, dalam gelaran kali ini, BTS masuk ke dalam nominasi International Group of the Year. BTS harus melawan sejumlah grup ternama lainnya seperti ABBA, Maneskin, Silk Sonic, dan The War on Drugs.

Ini merupakan kali kedua bagi BTS menembus ajang musik paling bergengsi di Inggris tersebut. Tahun sebelumnya, RM cs mencatat sejarah menjadi musisi Korea Selatan pertama yang masuk ke dalam nominasi BRIT Awards.

BRIT Awards 2022 sendiri direncanakan digelar pada 8 Februari 2022 mendatang di O2 Arena, London, Inggris. Pada gelarannya kali ini, BRIT Awards menghapus kategori gender dan menggabungkan kategori British Male Solo Artist dan British Female Solo Artist menjadi British Artist of the Year.

BRIT Awards juga menambahkan beberapa kategori termasuk International Artist of the Year, British Alternative/Rock Act, British Dance Act, British Hip-Hop/Rap/Grime Act, dan British Pop/R&B Act.

Mengutip Variety, perubahan itu dilakukan untuk merayakan karya yang dihasilkan para musisi, bukan identifikasi atau citra diri yang diterima masyarakat. Nama-nama seperti Adele, Ed Sheeran, Dave, dan Little Simz memimpin sejumlah nominimasi. Masing-masing masuk ke dalam empat nominasi, termasuk di antaranya British Artist of the Year dan Album of the Year.
